Summer Course “Quantum Computing: from fundamentals to applications”
August 29, 2025A comprehensive and innovative overview of advances in quantum computing.

September 10-12, 2025 · Miramar Palace, Donostia-San Sebastián
BasQ and the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) are organizing the summer course Quantum Computing: from fundamentals to applications, at the iconic Miramar Palace, as part of the UPV/EHU — UIK Summer Courses program. The initiative is aligned with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
The course is directed by Javier Aizpurua, professor at the DIPC and scientific director of BasQ, and Igor Campillo, general director of Euskampus Fundazioa All sessions will be conducted in English.
Participants will gain a broad and in-depth understanding of quantum technologies, exploring the subject from theoretical principles to cutting-edge architectures, software development, algorithms, and practical uses. Special attention will be given to quantum–classical hybridization and its anticipated impact across industries.
The program will feature top-level international speakers from leading institutions and companies such as RIKEN, ETH Zurich, CSIC, IBM, and Iberdrola, making the course an academic and professional benchmark in the field of quantum computing.
Spanning 30 academic hours, the sessions will be available both on-site and via live online streaming. The program is designed for researchers, advanced students in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science, as well as professionals and faculty seeking essential tools to understand the scientific and industrial potential of quantum technologies.
