Bilbao hosts the BasQ–IBM Research Meeting to review the progress of joint quantum projects
September 28, 2026Researchers from IBM and Basque research groups gathered to assess the results of their collaboration, which has already produced five scientific papers this year.
Bilbao has hosted the Basque Quantum (BasQ)–IBM Research Meeting, an event that brought together IBM researchers and Basque research groups to review the progress of their joint quantum projects.
The session followed up on the work developed under the Joint Research Agreements (JRAs) with IBM, together with the Road to Utility (R2U) program. This collaboration between IBM and the Basque research community has played a central role in advancing quantum algorithms and error mitigation techniques, key areas for the development of utility-scale quantum computing.
As a result of this joint effort, five scientific papers have been published this year, all of them stemming directly from the collaborative work carried out within the program.
