BasQ at the IBM Materials Working Group in Japan

The Scientific Director of Basque Quantum, Javier Aizpurua, takes part in the Kobe meeting alongside leading researchers in quantum computing for materials.

BasQ – Basque Quantum participated in the annual meeting organized by IBM dedicated to research in quantum computing for materials. Its Scientific Director, Javier Aizpurua, attended the event in the Japanese city of Kobe, which brought together leading international experts in the field of quantum computing for materials, with a special focus on the development of quantum algorithms and their integration with High-Performance Computing (HPC). The program also included a visit to the RIKEN center, home to the Fugaku supercomputer and the recently inaugurated IBM Quantum System Two.

At the same time, the Basque Country is preparing to unveil its own System Two, which will be located in the new Ikerbasque building in Donostia. Following the Kobe meeting, IBM confirmed that the next IBM Materials Working Group gathering will take place in the Basque Country, coinciding with the launch of the new quantum computer in the region.
