Raúl Guerrero

Tecnalia

Raúl Ignacio Guerrero Avilés holds a degree in Physics Engineering from Andrés Bello University in Chile and a PhD in Physics from the University of the Basque Country. He specialises in condensed matter and the simulation of two-dimensional materials using ab initio methods, including density functional theory (DFT). His research career covers topics such as desalination using porous graphene, hydrogen storage and the electronic characterisation of graphene-based heterostructures.

He currently works at TECNALIA, where he applies the latest developments in quantum algorithms to the simulation of physical-chemical systems and the resolution of linear differential equations. His solid experience in advanced scientific computing, together with a firm commitment to emerging technologies, has enabled him to study low-dimensional materials from a perspective oriented towards innovation and technology transfer.
