Microcredential in 'Quantum Technologies Introduction'

EHU

Date:

13-29 May, 2026

Quantum technologies are receiving increasing attention as potential enablers of new capabilities across multiple fields. However, this interest is often accompanied by a lack of specific training that would allow one to determine whether these technologies can solve specific problems, improve existing processes, or justify an investment.

This course offers an introduction to quantum technologies, aimed at technical professionals and researchers from other sectors who wish to gain a solid and realistic understanding of the field. Throughout the program, the three major areas of quantum technologies—sensors, computing, and communications—are addressed, presenting the main technological platforms, their current capabilities and limitations, and forecasts for medium- and long-term evolution.

The goal is to equip students with a well-founded framework for analyzing potential use cases, both to identify opportunities and to rule out premature or inappropriate applications. In this way, the course facilitates better decision-making, fosters informed dialogue across disciplines, and contributes to a more effective integration of quantum technologies into research and development projects.
